Surrounded by lush mountain jungles on either side, and with Pu Isle directly in front, Kata Beach, Phuket, Thailand, is the perfect place to relax and get away from it all.
Located about 17 kilometers south of Phuket and nearly right in the middle of Karon Beach and Kata Noi on Thailand’s western shore, Kata Beach is a family-friendly location with lots of activities. It has been described as the perfect contrast to the peaceful but nearly deserted Karon Beach and the very hectic Patong Beach, both of which are nearby.
The beach is a 1.5 kilometer strip of white sand lined by palm trees. The water from the Andaman Sea is warm and clear and fun to play in, or you can simply lounge on the beach, using one of the many sun loungers that can be rented for a small fee on the beach. Vendors walk the beach selling snacks meaning you’ll almost never have to go far from your towel. The water is especially calm during the months from November to April, while becoming slightly rougher for swimming from May through October. However, it is during this time that vast amounts of surfers come to the area to try the smallish waves. In December, hundreds of yachts arrive from around the region to take part in Asia’s premiere sailing event, the King’s Cup Regatta.
