If you are looking for a beach in Thailand that feels a bit less crowded, and is a bit more family oriented, then you may want to visit picturesque Karon Beach on the southwest coast of Phuket Island. Karon’s powdery white sands, which actually make a sound when tread, stretch over 4 kilometers that lie along Phuket’s western coastal road. The northern parts of the beach rarely have many sunbathers, set as they are a bit further away from the shops, clothiers and restaurants located around the southern end.
Karon Beach is the second largest stretch of beach on the west coast of Phuket Island. Therefore, even on the more populated areas of the beach, where bars and other entertainment facilities abound, the umbrellas and sunbathing stations have been set with enough space in between them that it never feels as though anyone is too close to you. While there is no shortage of hotels, retailers, tour guides, and other businesses in the area, including a large mini-golf park, none of this commercial development is on the beach itself.
