Holidays To Krabi: Guide + Hotels

Ao Nang Beach, Krabi
Ao Nang Beach, Krabi

Krabi is both a province and a city on the west coast of South Thailand, where the Krabi river reaches the Anadaman sea. Famed for its beautiful limestone hills or karsts which can be found amongst rice paddies on land and as islands in the sea, Krabi is a beautiful region with some equally spectacular beaches. Within the hills can be found many caves with impressive stalactites and stalagmites, as well as prehistoric rock paintings - it is thought the area has been inhabited since as early as 30, 000 BC.

While in Krabi many visitors opt to head straight to the islands of Ko Phi Phi (the famous setting of the film The Beach) and Ko Lanta there is also plenty to see on the mainland. The most popular beach on the mainland is Ao Nang, with a reputation for some great restaurants and cheap accommodation. From here is is possible to take a boat to Rai Leh, which is extremely popular with rock climbers due to the towering limestone cliffs but also has some small beaches to cool off on after a hard climb. Pra Nang beach is not far either - and many would say it is among one of the most beautiful beaches in the word.
